About Placecloud

Welcome to Placecloud. Placecloud hosts short podcasts (“viewpoints”) on the places around you. Viewpoints can focus on historic buildings, quirky locations, hidden gems, of the world around you, so that you can discover new places to visit.

Everyone can contribute viewpoints, but we have a special place in our heart for historians, writers, artists, certified city guides and other experts. Viewpoints from experts are more visible on our platform.

Placecloud was founded by George Fort in 2019. The platform was created by Babak Fakhamzadeh.
In 2023, walk · listen · create (WLC), the home of walking artists and artist walkers, took responsibility of Placecloud. Babak is one of the founders of walk · listen · create, ensuring continuation and consistency for the Placecloud platform.

How does this work?

Placecloud shows you sites of significance through short podcasts ("viewpoints"). We particularly value contributions from academics, writers, artists, certified city guides, and other experts.

How to enjoy Placecloud
  1. Have a look around in Street View . Check out the map  for context.
  2. Press , put your phone back in your pocket, and enjoy .
  3. If you like a place, press and it'll be saved in your places for a future visit.
  4. Move on to the next viewpoint when you're ready .
  5. Contribute your own viewpoints by pressing .
